Who can apply?

Registered non-profit organizations may apply.

What type of projects are eligible?

The short answer is projects both large and small, cross country, downhill, enduro, beginner, or advanced. All trail projects should be bike forward. That means the trail should be designed and built with bikes as the primary user. We understand that many trails will be multi-use(bike and pedestrian). This fund is for bike trails, so we want to ensure trail projects are focused on mountain biking as the primary objective.

What size projects are eligible?

We understand that some organizations just need help funding a new bog bridge, or some updated signs while others need help starting an entirely new trail system. We have various levels of grants to help you streamline the process and find a funding level that is right for your project. You will need to show that you have landowner or land manager approval.

How long does the process take?

We have designed the application to be as streamlined and straight forward as possible. This is not a lengthy application and our goal is to get your organization the funds it needs to get to work. Once you have finished your application it will be reviewed by our team and we will be sending out notices at the end of each month.

Is there a deadline?

There is no deadline and the application is rolling. We have a set amount of funding to distribute annually and will be reviewing applications as they come in.

Is there an expected timeline for projects?

Ideally most projects will be completed within a calendar year. We understand that some larger projects may take more than that. Projects should be completed before another application is submitted.

Do I need matching funds?

The short answer is NO. However if you do have matching funds that only helps.

•If you are a new organization that is just getting started we imagine that funds are scarce; this fund is for you!. Perhaps start with a smaller grant/project and knock it out of the park! When you are ready, come back and apply again and go a little bigger the second time around. We expect that as you gain momentum in your community you will find support in various ways.

•If you are an organization with a proven track record of accomplishing projects or other grants in a timely manner, and on budget, we have larger grant amounts available as well. If you have a matching budget, or donors that will help push your project to the next level we encourage you to include that in your grant application.

How do I report back on my project?

Our project reporting is informal. We encourage you to take pictures and share them with us as you make progress. We want to hear about your successes, and even your challenges. Our reviewers have been there and perhaps we can be of help dealing with your challenges, and of course, you better believe we want to celebrate your successes with you. As you get close to completion we would love to have you send us a brief email about the project with some photos of the finished product.
